Last Sat and Sun were tiring, busy but fun, meaningful and GREAT as well! :D
because I spent my 2 days doing cip. Sat was flag day and today was bom cip which we helped out at the SINDA's volunteers' tea. :)

Flag Day
My dad fetched yiling and I to newton mrt. I must really say sorry to minxuan! :/ I should have called you to confirm.
And so yiling, renice, minxuan, lifern and I went to raffles place, hoping to see lots of people there. But it turned out to be quite "empty". More people came after that but they were all either here to exercise so no wallets with them or tourists with tourguides or no singapore dollars (though i'm not very sure if that's true. :/)

Thus, we decided to go to dhoby gaut. There was more people there and they were quite generous.
It's interesting to see how different people react.
And it's really nice to see people coming to donate with so much initiative or hear people asking more about the association we are helping.
I think it's just amazing to see those people like workers, cleaners or those who look like they do not come from a well-to-do family donating even before I ask. :D
The feeling of your tin getting heavier is really satisfactory after so much of "hello. Would you like to donate some? Thank you." I was smiling until my jaw was kinda stiff. hahah.
But I do not blame or feel unhappy about those people who ignored us or did not donate because I do that too, sometimes. :S But now I realised that showing some reaction that you do not want to donate like shaking your head is much better than dao-ing the people. hahha.

So finally, 1pm came! After returning the tins, we went jp to have lunch and just shopped around. Oh. and we say some freaky people with like so many rings and sticks on their lips. disgusting. :/

SINDA Volunteers' Tea

I must say that this cip is the coolest and most interesting and special one I have ever had! fyi, it is for my bom cip. So we are supposed to go to suntec city convention center for this SINDA volunteers' tea. And all the volunteers were all so formally dressed, except us because mrs chitra just want us to wear hongzi. SINDA is Singapore Indian Development Association. Thus, the guests of this events are all indians. The guest of honour was mr teo chee hean and some other ministers as well.

We were supposed to reach around 3 hours earlier. There was a briefing and then we were all split into various groups of various duties. And guess what? I'm going to look after 8 children from a table! And i can't believe how big the place is. The whole hall is made up of 3 convention halls! with approx 300 tables (those round ones which have 10 seats) and 7 screens (Those projectors one but much bigger!). The whole area was HUGE lah. and COLD. There was around 300 children. My duty was just to look after them, make sure they dont go running around, bring them down to the LOONG red carpet, line them up, have them holding light sticks, welcoming the GOH and bring them back. Ohman. they are quite difficult to control can. oh. and 1 other VERY IMPORTANT DUTY is bringing them to the toilets! hahahah. But they are generally quite ok.

After welcoming of GOH, there was some performance and prize giving for those volunteers who had served SINDA for a long time which was the whole point of the tea. I can say that the place is so huge that how noisy the children were at the back, the people in front on stage will never hear that! hahaha. so the person-in-charge just tell us that they can make noise. hahah.

Finally, it was time for food since its a tea! but there was so much food that it can be dinner lah! The children have dishes served to them. I see already also feel like eating! hahah. And this is the first time i feel like a waitress trying to serve them food. hhahah. The adults have buffet!!! And there was around 8 sets of such buffets around the whole hall. They all over-order lor. There was so many leftovers. So after the whole thing end, we just walk around eating! hahah. the food is really nice! the waitresses there still ask us whether we want to drink anything. In the end, we all just sat on one table and eat. hahahah. :D

Well, i feel that this cip is very special, as in i dont think we'll have any of such cip again. It's not those helping the old folks and children which are kinda meaningful (and that is we really HELP them instead of creating more problems). This time we get to see and feel how hard it is to organise such a big event, as well as an eye opener to all of us, to see how a formal event runs...
Im still kinda amazed by the number of people and size of the hall. ok. maybe im just too "sua ku".
